For our screencasting assignment, I thought that I would use this opportunity to address a problem that many of my students have: accurately formatting their works cited page. Normally, I would teach this using a projector in the classroom and allow my students to watch as I walked through the same process. However, I never know for sure if each individual student will have access to a computer in my classroom and, without being able to follow along, these steps can often be hard to remember. By creating a screencast video using Jing, I could avoid wasting class-time but also help my students retain a useful understanding by making this walkthrough available to them when they would actually need it, wherever and whenever they are formatting their papers.
